By winning their third match so scoring 6/6 in the Under 120 competition, Notts qualify for the national stages in this competition.

Are Notts going to qualify the full set? If so, do you have the players resources to proceed in every category?

Amazingly well organised, by the way, congratulations

We have already let Peter Sherlock know that Notts, having qualified for the Minor Counties, will not take up a place in the Under 180. Our Minor Counties team is, essentially, our Under 180 team with a few higher graded players in at the top. So Notts could theoretically go for the Minor, U160, U140, U120 and U100.

Notts beat Worcestershire yesterday by 8.5-3.5 to take the Midland U120 title with 8/8.

The other qualification places are yet to be decided.

Congratulations to Nottinghamshire Under 120s for their 4 wins out of 4 this season.

Neil do you know where the Nottinghamshire v Staffordshire Under 100 match is taking place on Saturday 5th March?

Thanks Neil.

We (Staffordshire) will probably be already out by the time of the match, but I would hope that we could provide a full quota of players for the match (not that it is in my control.) Staffordshire tend to use the under 100 team to have a mix of players, including junior players, hopefully there might be some of my own club Brewood.

Staffordshire U100 play Leicestershire U100 this weekend. The winner of that match will almost certainly take the MCCU3 nomination into the national finals.

Oh thanks Neil. I didn't realise that the under 100 had 3 spots in the national competiton for the national stages. (I always thought that groups with 5 teams had 3 teams go through, and those with 4 have 2 teams go through.)

Looks like its all to play for then.

Where there are less than eight nominees (each Union has the option of two nominees whether they bother to actually organise any qualifying competition or not) the event Controller has the power to invite extra nominees to make the number up to eight. In the U100 there are only five nominations namely SCCU1, SCCU2, MCCU1, MCCU2 & NCCU1. The MCCU has therefore taken up the nomination for a third team making it a six team competition.

The last rounds of U140 matches were played yesterday with Notts beating Derbyshire 10-6 & Worcestershire 9-7 winners over Lincolnshire. The final table thus reads Notts 6/6; Derbys 4/6; Worcs 2/6 and Lincs 0/6. The MCCU nominations are easy to work out from this.

In the U100 there was a narrow victory for Notts over Warwickshire by 6.5-5.5 whilst Staffordshire beat Leicestershire by 7.5-4.5 with one match to play; the situation in this competition is Notts 4/4; Warwicks 4/6; Staffs 2/4; Leics 0/6. The final match in a fortnight will decide the placings.

Well done Neil, so that's 3 titles for Notts and you are favourites for 2 more - very impressive

I'm just very pleased that Staffordshire Under 100's have got through with the win against Leicestershire.

So it looks most likely that an away match against Essex will be for us in the Quarter Final. (Although I guess we will insist on a neutral venue, at some point half way between the two places.)
