Well presumably if he'd posted about chess he would have been castigated for going off-topic for this section.

Me too. Perhaps circulate another circular/questionnaire asking if playing in a new chess venue improves performance/attracts new members?

My son is at uni last year studying sports science so hopefully his dissertation questions get answered too.
