Who would have guessed that Casillas would have been someone to go for?

So far the Uruguay goalkeeper, 2 Greek defenders, Martin Demichelis, Fred, and Javier Hernandez have all done pretty badly for me or just haven't played. Still I'm hopeful Pejman Montazeri will get a clean sheet for Iran this evening.

I've scored 30 points so far; my top scorers are Cabaye (10) and Evra (8). Currently the four players in the chess group are very tightly bunched: I'm last placed with 30 and Rob is top with 44.

It's worth noting that I expect to get no points after the group phase, so my lead is probably not going to survive the whole time.

I've got 49 at the moment with a couple more players to play.

IS it not showing the league until after the 1st round or something? How have you found other peoples scores Jack?

Different games. You're talking about Fantasy Football, I'm talking about Twatball.

Özil has just got me some points for being subbed, which is quite pleasing. He was quite clearly not going to get me positive points otherwise, and was running a disturbingly high risk of scoring.

Who is 'Spartak Hove'? 200 points already, I very much doubt I'll get that by the end of the tournament.

From my 23 man squad I've had one player who's scored a goal so far (Oscar). Iran defenders last time out and Greek this are keeping my score reasonable. 110 so far.

For the Official Fantasy game I don't find it very user friendly. I lost five points when I tried to change my formation for week 2 and accidentally changed it for week one. This happen after week 1 had already finished!

Changed my captain, after Higuan did nothing again, to a Russian defender. Who was promptly dropped. Capello apparently looking to go more attacking by going 4-5-1 instead of 5-4-1.

Trying to find a team of players that are still in the World Cup and fit in the budget is a nightmare. Can't help thinking the only real way of going for it is to pick a few stars and then fill the squad with random 1mil picks from Iran/ Algeria. Also, unless Mexico play with only 2 midfielders, they've got some of their players in the wrong positions.

New look team is:

GK: Cillessen (Ned), Karnezis (Gre), Mbolhi (Alg)

DF: Johnson (USA), Rojo, Fernandez, Garay (all Arg), Blind (Ned), Mesbah, Halliche (both ALG).

MF: Gago (Arg), Oezil (Ger), Matuidi (Fra), Maniatis (Gre), Vazquez (Mex), Gustavo (Bra), Bentaleb (Alg)

FW: Robben, Van Persie (Ned), Neymar (Bra), Mueller (Ger), Djabou (Alg).

Really got a feeling Algeria will do well ;)

I believe Bentaleb has had a good tournament. Hopefully he will have a good season for Spurs!

I've fallen way behind in the Twatball. Still, my remaining players are from France (*2), Germany (*2), Argentina and Brazil, so at least they should be there for a while yet. I suppose I'm supporting Netherlands from now on, then.

The standings in the FIFA game are interesting: SpartakHove still has a big lead (over 50 points), but then there's a four-way battle for second place between eoin.devane, jsg1967, LozCooper, and PikeyMike. It's then another 36 points back to the chasing pack. Still, all could change in the knockout rounds!

Who is SpartakHove?
