The start has been delayed; there was an inspection at 11am. Cricinfo is yet to provide the result of this inspection.
Edit: No play before Lunch.

Think the match has been abandoned, drawn. Fabulous innings by KP, mullered the Lancs. bowling. 234 off 190 balls in 286 minutes, with eight sixes. Against the county champions!

Simon Kerrigan's bowling figures were 23-0-152-1. 6.60 per over. Given the media are quick to point out Pietersen's weakness against left-arm spinners, I think that may silence a few critics.

Typical British weather....
I wonder if KP is talking about returning to ODI and T20 cricket because he finds county cricket too easy?

Simon Kerrigan isn't exactly Herath is he?
It would be amiss of me not to mention that young Joe Root also scored a double-ton, 222* (270) for Yorkshire vs Hampshire, but the weather forced an early declaration.

Simon Kerrigan isn't bad though. He's the first-choice spinner of the champions, and has taken 92 wickets at 27 in first-class cricket. If you think about the pecking order of spinners in England, he's probably number 3 to Swann and Panesar at the moment. Scott Borthwick is higher up the pecking order, but that's because he's almost an all-rounder, and he bowls leg-spin, therefore he's the new Shane Warne.

I see Joe Root succeeding Andrew Strauss at opener when he retires.
