Scottish independence

Hi Matt,
I've noticed a lot of friends and family have recently switched, from it will never work to we must leave.
If you mix in the 'Yes' crowd you may not have noticed, but I had a 50-50 crowd, now approx 70-29 are for it.
(the one missing is my wife, she has not yet made up her mind.)

Well, if Scotland leaves, it will indeed be the end of an era. Many predicted economic doom for the UK once it left the EU, and it's far from clear that's been the case, so I'm cautious over forecasting a similar fate for Scotland if it leaves the UK. All the same, I'm not sure that Scots have got their heads around the prospect of border checks at Berwick similar to those at Calais. Shouldn't affect chess too much, though, with Scotland already having separate FIDE representation.

Hi Roger,
If Scotland re-join the E.U. then we will have same mess as we do at the Irish border, also as the two countries
trade with each other (60% from Scotland to England and approx the same the other way), will they be allowed too?
England will be better off in one respect. About 30 Scots residents in the House of Lords will be booted out.
My only concern is would Scotland have to pay the BBC a license fee. If so why? and what will do when we don't.

Yes but after Indy they will also have it's own Olympic team. No more team G.B. and all the tracks suits will have
to have new ex Union Jacks sewn on them. One plan is to replace the blue of Scotland with the green of Wales.
