Week 12

Ole leaves with our sincerest thanks for his tireless efforts Manchester United statement after they sack manager Solskjaer.

As predicted Ole rides off into the sunset to keep up the statistics that every manager will be sacked before the end of the season! In case you want to bet on the next manager to leave, odds are Brendan Rodgers 5/2; Rafa Benitez 4/1 and Ralph Hasenhuttl at 5/1. Possibly of more interest is who is to take over at United as permanent manager; odds on at 4/6 is Mauricio Pochettino followed by Rodgers but if you want long odds Sam Allardyce is available at 250/1 or Neil Warnock at 500/1. The odds for Warnock are the same as Simon Cowell becoming Prime Minister or Father Dougal Maguire being elected as the next Pope. Moving from the ridiculous to the sublime Sam Herring takes over at the top there are now only eight managers within 50 points of our leader. Sam had the 2nd highest total of the week behind Adam Bremner whilst Paul Colburn was our low scorer.

1 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 85 852
2 Don't Shoot Vinny Paul Cooksey 79 851
3 Lanzini'sLamborghini Joel Newman 84 837
4 Melvinho XI Melvin Pool 75 835
5 Desperate Means Kaia Means 78 827

Finally The overall leader is now on 930 points so Week 13 could see the first 1,000 points score posted.

Week 13

"I can’t see how it could go ahead the way the pitch is at the moment.” Sean Dyche after Burnley's match with Spurs snowed off.

In a week with no managerial sackings there is another set of fixtures starting tomorrow. Ronaldo was relegated to the bench as United drew with Chelsea, whilst the Manchester side announce that Ralf Rangnick will be their interim manager till the season's end. No change at all in our top five other than a slight shuffle. Rich tea for top scorer Edward Hargreaves "Tasty Biscuitmen" whilst Chris James was well past his sell by date with a new low score of 8,643,019th for the season keeping him in 135th and last place. Please note that entry to the League will be closed after Game Week 14.

1 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 62 914
2 Don't Shoot Vinny Paul Cooksey 53 904
3 Melvinho XI Melvin Pool 62 897
4 Lanzini'sLamborghini Joel Newman 50 887
5 Desperate Means Kaia Means 56 883

Finally Not quite - the 1,000 point barrier wasn't broken - overall leader has 990 points.

Week 14

"The VAR checked it and hopefully it was the right decision.” Mikel Arteta after Arsenal's bizarre opening goal against United.

Week 15, which is also qualifying week for the Fantasy Football Cup, will see our leading teams over the 1,000 point barrier. If current scores continue our top team; currently Sam Herring's "Slumdog Mignolet", could well exceed the 2020-21 overall total by over 100 points. However there is still a long way to go but there are now only 8 rivals within 50 points and on Sam's heels; but the closest of these, as shown below, are only 25 points adrift. Meanwhile Jude Shearsby was top scorer of the week; David Lambert was the 135th and lowest manager.

1 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 61 975
2 Don't Shoot Vinny Paul Cooksey 61 965
3 Melvinho XI Melvin Pool 63 960
4 Lanzini'sLamborghini Joel Newman 76 959
5 Gini Mini Mane Mo Matthew Timbrell 69 951

Finally For a 6th successive week "Gangster's Allardyce" managed by Daniel Masson-Abraham (South Africa) is overall leader. Indeed this year, like last year, it was Week 14 that the 1,000 point mark was reached. However Daniel is not alone 100s of managers have now exceeded that figure.

Selling Antonio & Bowen and keeping Reese James worked well :oops:

I have had Harry Kane in my team for six weeks; no goals or assists so 12 points in that time. I keep thinking "He's bound to score next match" but after another dud week against Norwich he'll have to go. Prior to that and his injury I had Lukaku - exactly the same 4 weeks of zilch.

I would strongly advise anyone to transfer Kane in now. It's an infallible rule that as soon as I transfer a player out he'll score a hatful next week.

I've had him since the beginning of the season and named my team after him....

Week 15

"I want them to enjoy this moment and then be prepared to work and fight very soon" Eddie Howe gives his players a day off after their first win.

Week 15 sees our top teams over the 1,000 point mark. After Simon's comment about his team name "Raising Kane II", I note that they currently sit on Page 3 of our League with a mediocre 752 points, some 270 points or so behind our current leader. Of the teams in the League there are plenty of player/team references including four of our top five. This week was qualifying week for the Overall Cup and you had to do especially badly not to be in the draw. Our two bottom managers, Chris James & David Lambert were the only ones not to make the cut and the other 133 go into the First Round. In a week of comparative low scores Barry Redburn and Richard York-Weaving were joint top with 67 points. Chris once again beats the low score of the season with his team in 8,644,102th place this week.

1 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 46 1021
2 Lanzini'sLamborghini Joel Newman 57 1016
3 Melvinho XI Melvin Pool 55 1015
4 Gini Mini Mane Mo Matthew Timbrell 57 1008
5 Don't Shoot Vinny Paul Cooksey 39 1004

Finally Our top team Slumdog Mignolet is in 7,998th place overall which shows just how competitive Fantasy Football is!

Week 16

We have him for a year, we are pleased to work with him. Patrick Vieira on Connor Gallagher. (Left on my bench :oops:)

One day break and we resume tomorrow (if Covid allows - already talk of more postponements). Whilst Lewis Hamilton falters, Joel Newman's Lamborghini zooms back to the top overtaking Sam Herring on the way. Meanwhile Kaia Means means business as she is back in the top five. Eddie Hargreaves Biscuitmen are the chocolate hob-knobs of the week with the best score but not even a crumb of comfort for Gavin Carter whose "Wollaton Rovers" achieved the dubious award of worst score of the season of 8,674,485th place for the Game Week.

1 Lanzini'sLamborghini Joel Newman 86 1094
2 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 72 1089
3 Desperate Means Kaia Means 88 1082
4 Don't Shoot Vinny Paul Cooksey 63 1067
5 Melvinho XI Melvin Pool 59 1066

Oop for the Cup 133 of our teams started and if we keep to previous form they will all be gone by Week 24 or so. I did do a check on our top 50 teams and found that 32 survived the opening round with 18 on the coach back home. As numbers decrease I will give fuller details of survivors.

With all the Covid postponements my team adopted a 5-3-0 formation in midweek and if I forget to do anything tomorrow then it will be a 3-3-0 this weekend :oops:

Week 17

"Ignore lies and misinformation. Listen to people who know best." Jurgen Klopp. 99% of Liverpool staff/players are vaccinated.

A rather curtailed report as a rather curtailed Week 18 commences with just five of the ten matches scheduled; the remainder postponed because of COVID. As predicted after the end of Quarter One there has been little change in our leaders over the second quarter. Top score of the week was from Paul Spiller whose 91 points meant a rise of almost 1,000,000 places. Less of a surprise was Gavin Carter's low score of 12 points, 10 of which came from his substitutes bench, and meant his downward trajectory towards bottom place continued.

1 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 83 1168
2 Desperate Means Kaia Means 78 1160
3 Lanzini'sLamborghini Joel Newman 44 1138
4= Don't Shoot Vinny Paul Cooksey 74 1137
4= Melvinho XI Melvin Pool 71 1137

Overall A quick update - three teams are now in a tie for the overall lead with 1253 points.

Week 18 - update

Bit of a disaster there - I had two free transfers which I used to get 11 players on the field (so I thought). No strikers - so in came Ollie Watkins of Villa - one of three Villa players in my eleven. At about 13.20 I saw my wife preparing her team with ten minutes to go before deadline. I noticed there were only four fixtures compared with the five when I confirmed my team about an hour earlier and then discovered that the Villa match had been called off. Panic! I used a further eight points trying to recruit players but even then at about 13.35 I found that Watkins was still in the team and I still had no striker at all. Could have been worse - I confidently predict some "Nil points" tomorrow for some managers.

Week 18

The Premier League has pushed to continue its schedule “where safe to do so” Report of meeting today of PL clubs.

There was an update above at the weekend as only four matches took place. It, of course, affected a large number of Premier Chess managers as well as the 1.3 million who transferred in Ollie Watkins only to see the Villa v Burnley game postponed at short notice. Our top five managers continued serenely with little change. Next week is the half way point of the Premier League so still a long way to go. A judicious use of his Free Hit chip saw Tony Niccoli score a magnificent 92 points whilst Armaan Gogia could only muster three players to achieve the low score of 10 points. At least my prediction of "nil" points didn't come to fruition.

1 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 58 1226
2 Lanzini'sLamborghini Joel Newman 86 1224
3 Desperate Means Kaia Means 47 1207
4 Melvinho XI Melvin Pool 72 1205
5 Don't Shoot Vinny Paul Cooksey 55 1188

Cup report We have already lost several of our top managers; 53 of our teams had made in to Week 18 and in time honoured fashion 50% survived with 27 going forward. Graham Ives Hammertime had already survived one drawn match in Week 16 when he progressed on "goals scored" - this time he was not so lucky losing on the second tiebreak of "goals conceded" after a second drawn match.

Week 19

Algerian ball boy https://www.videoman.gr/en/173627 Possible New Year signing for Norwich?

Latest sacking odds for Premier Division managers - Rafa Bentitez at 1-4; Marcelo Bielsa at 7/2 or if you want a long odds flutter Gerrard, Klopp, Guardiola or Tuchel at 100/1. Our top teams shuffle round their deckchairs in a congested but covid interrupted schedule with Game weeks following fast and in some cases thick. Top scorer was Grant Bucher whilst Richard Dineley had the dubious distinction of the season's low score of 8,719,336th place.

1 Melvinho XI Melvin Pool 62 1267
2 Lanzini'sLamborghini Joel Newman 41 1257
3 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 34 1256
4 Gini Mini Mane Mo Matthew Timbrell 66 1249
5= Don't Shoot Vinny Paul Cooksey 46 1230
5= Desperate Means Kaia Means 35 1230

Up for the Cup Just 12 of our managers remain after Week 19. Paul Cooksey is the highest placed of those whilst David Blower's renaissance after Quarter One continues; he is the lowest scorer of the other 11. Prediction that our interest will finish in Week 23 still current.

Quarter 2 Report - Weeks 11-19

Quarter One found 15 managers with top 5 appearances and it was suggested that Quarter Two would sort out the frontrunners from the riff and indeed the raff and so it proved. Four managers were in the top five for the whole of the quarter - they were (in no particular order as announced on a well-known variety show) Paul Cooksey, Joel Newman, Sam Herring and Melvin Pool. David Egginton dropped out of the running after Week 11 and the remaining weeks in the top five were filled by Kaia Means and Matthew Timbrell making a total of seven managers only. As we move into Quarter Three it will mean a significant move from any manager outside those named above to mount a challenge

Usual methodology = five points for a 1st place down to one for fifth; number of weeks in brackets - two weeks needed to qualify.

1. Sam Herring 41 pts (9)
2. Joel Newman 29 pts (9)
3= Melvin Pool 24 pts (9)
3= Paul Cooksey 25 pts (9)
5. Kaia Means 13 pts (6)
6. Matthew Timbrell 5 pts (3)
