Week 4

First and foremost, congratulations to Aston Villa Jürgen Klopp.

Ah Week 4 - best forgotten. Time to unusually early use my wild card - but let's get rid of Son (shown as injured), bring in Liverpool defenders and so on. Result - my Week Three team would have scored 52; my new team a miserable 28 points! At least it wasn't the low score of the week which went to Colin Hughes on just 11 points - 7 points less than Jack Grealish. Meanwhile Roland Graf cemented his place at the top with 97 points.

1 Free Wendy Roland Graf 97 321
2 #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 75 294
3 Fantasy Champ Paul Talbot 67 281
4 UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 63 268
5 Maximum 20 character Steven Smith 62 263

Meanwhile Congratulations to Josh McCarthy whose top scoring team scored 160 points this week! His midfield of Grealish (triple captain), Salah, Rodriguez and Jorginho contributing 118 of these.

Week 5

"Completely stupid" Georginio Wijnaldum comments on Pickford's tackle on Virgil van Dijk.

More unexpected results as Aston Villa maintain their 100% record whilst both Chelsea and Spurs concede three goals; the latter after leading 3-0 with ten minutes to play. Two of the top players from last season Sam Herring and Onos Kofi-Ofuafor feature in the top five for the first time whilst backmarker Colin Hughes is already over 200 points behind the top placed team. Score of the week 91 points from Simon Brown whilst score of the weak was 25 points from Chris Willoughby.

1 Free Wendy Roland Graf 64 385
2 #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 60 354
3 fckthesehandballs Sam Smith 79 339
4= Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 86 335
4= Salt & Pepe Onos Kofi-Ofuafor 88 335

The Case of the Missing Goalkeeper Last season one of our usual tailenders Nick London managed to play the whole season without a goalkeeper - his two choices Joe Hart (Burnley) and Eldin Jakupović (Leicester) managing nil minutes in total. Not content with this Nick has started the season true to form by having no minders on the pitch. Allison (Liverpool) did at least manage three matches before his injury (out till end November) sidelined the Brazilian. Luckily we have substitutes - but it's Joe Hart again!!

I'm guessing that after losing a clean sheet in 90+5 and having VAR disallow a goal which my team both assisted and scored that it may not be my week

I made wild substitutes and Allison (Liverpool) played. Bringing 2 more ViLLains in was the kiss of death.

I should thank my last four players for turning 18 into 62 albeit as an Arsenal fan the Leicester late goal and clean sheet followed by the same for Spurs the day after wasn't altogether well received!

Weeks 6 & 7

"We're getting a little behind" - as Sainbury's announced when one of their staff backed into the bacon slicer. But there again as Sainsbury's are closing their meat, deli and fresh fish counters probably the last time I can use that joke.

Anyway here are the scores for Week 6:-

1. Free Wendy Roland Graf 36 421
2. #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 50 404
3. fckthesehandballs Sam Smith 50 389
4. Salt & Pepe Onos Kofi-Ofuafor 50 385
5. UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 59 383

I can advise that the high scorer of the week was Anthony Ibbitson with a magnificent 91 points whilst the low scorer is shrouded in mystery though I can say that despite my best efforts it wasn't me. On now to Week 7 where Leon Watson's team KFC Streatham deliverooed a top score of 87 points with Harvey Kelly's side Karate's BadBoy getting the chop with a mediocre 30 points. Little change though in the top places:-

1. Free Wendy Roland Graf 84 505
2. #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 63 467
3. Salt & Pepe Onos Kofi-Ofuafor 60 445
4. UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 63 442
5. Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 60 438

Week 8

“It turns out I share a birthday with Jose Mourinho. He is exactly 10 years older than me.” Brendan Rodgers.

But which one will succeed at the end of the season? Certainly there won't be ten places between their teams. Steven Smith was the elite scorer of the week with 91 points whilst Chris Willoughby was the light scorer just 24 points for his team Willowbaggies. There was no change at all in the top five - unusual for this stage of the year. Bottom team Black Skywalker is already almost 300 points adrift of the top side after only eight weeks. International break means plenty of players are injured for Game Week 9.

1 Free Wendy Roland Graf 54 559
2 #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 63 530
3 Salt & Pepe Onos Kofi-Ofuafor 79 524
4 UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 76 518
5 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 73 511

Meanwhile Two teams from Morocco dominate the overall positions - with 649 & 647 points respectively.

Week 9

Reaching the penalty box and not getting in a shot on goal is like dancing with your sister.” Diego Maradona.

One of football's greats died earlier this week. Always controversial both on and off the field he was only 60 years old. Meanwhile we see that Sam Smith is back in the top five with his team "CHANGE NAME" - a decision we wholeheartedly agree with! Nigel Wright made a 1,300,000 place progress with the top score of the week of 91 points whilst Phil Maybury lost 1,200,000 places with the week's low score of just 20 points not helped by a bench replacement of Federico Fernández (Newcastle) who scored an own goal thus finishing on -1pts.

1 Free Wendy Roland Graf 62 621
2 #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 63 593
3 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 72 583
4 CHANGE NAME Sam Smith 79 581
5 UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 60 574

Carlsen's progress Magnus Carlsen has 501 points after nine weeks and is in 133,097th position two points behind Lawrence Cooper in the chess24 champions league.

Week 10

As Jurgen's good observation said we're still on that 1 point. There's 20 votes in this league, we have to look after ourselves. I will always look after Sheffield United" Chris Wilder responding to criticism from the Liverpool manager.

With a quarter of the season gone, Premier Chess Fantasy football has already settled into a pattern with remarkably few changes in the front runners. There is a full first quarter report to follow. Phil Makepeace is at the top of the Christmas tree with his team Soylent Greenwood on 79 points whilst the broken bauble award goes to Alex Bullen Bullen a China Shop with a paltry 21 points. Two interesting team names there btw. Harvey Kelly replaces long time backmarker Colin Hughes in 120th & last position. The Friday night match between Villa & Newcastle is postponed to some future date - the first fixture victim of Coronavirus this season.

1 Free Wendy Roland Graf 53 674
2 #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 67 656
3 UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 70 644
4 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 60 643
5 CHANGE NAME Sam Smith 60 641

Finally The top 20 overall scores resemble the United Nations - but only four English managers feature with only one (Charles Turner on 755 pts) in the Top Ten.

Quarter One Report - Weeks 1-10

For those new to this, every quarter there's a summary report with teams scoring pts, five for a first place down to one for a 5th place. The number of weeks in the top five is shown in brackets. Two appearances are needed to figure in the summary

Unusually two teams have dominated from the off - Rhys Cumming whose team #NolanOut has featured from Week One whilst Roland Graf appeared in Week Two with Free Wendy rapidly moving to first place where he has remained ever since. A selection of other teams have filled the minor placings and look to end the Roland & Rhys hegemony.

1. Free Wendy Roland Graf 45pts (9)
2. #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 40 pts (10)
3. UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 13pts (7)
4. Salt & Pepe Onos Kofi-Ofuafor 10pts (5)
5= Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 9pts (5)
CHANGE NAME Sam Smith 9pts (4)
Fantasy Champ Paul Talbot 9pts (3)
8. Peregrinewellies Barry Redburn 3pts (2)

Week 11

I remember playing against the great Manchester United teams when I was a player. Graham Potter (Brighton)
Well no problems playing against the 2020-21 Man U team then - out of Champions League.

The top five are still the same teams that have been dominating for the past few weeks. A determined effort by Lawrence Cooper to join these elite with the high score of the week of 98 points left him just one point adrift of fifth place. In a big scoring week (average 62 pts) Alex Bullen's team Bullen a China Shop crashed out with a low of 16 points.

1 Free Wendy Roland Graf 67 741
2 #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 74 730
3 CHANGE NAME Sam Smith 82 723
4 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 78 721
5 UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 68 712

Report offensive name. Observant league followers will have noticed this new button so managers can take offence over any team name - I'll try and look up the rules for next time - especially after the walk-off in Tuesday's Champion League match. Possibly our third placed team "CHANGE NAME" was advised to do so? Your guess is as good as mine on the translation of some foreign language names.

The team's original name appears in the reports for weeks 5 & 6

The website states When registering a team or league within FPL, all managers are asked to think carefully before entering a name. Names that are deemed inappropriate or offensive may result in a team and/or league being deleted (see Terms & Conditions). If you spot a name you find inappropriate or offensive then please let us know by reporting the manager name and the team or league name using the form below. Your details will not be shared with anyone. We will look into the report and take immediate and appropriate action. It's important to us that Fantasy Premier League is an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome and safe. Thank you for your help.

It may be that the name mentioned in weeks 5 & 6 was deemed inappropriate. I don't think the Team Manager is a member of this forum so we'll never know.

P.S. A marvellous selection decision by me this week - my bench has scored over double the points of the players on the field so far
