I posted this on my facebook account and thought I ought to post it here since the bias shown by myself is towards academia, in which I've spent most of my adult life, and this forum does contain considerably more academics than my facebook account. Opinions about Chomsky's points are most welcome. IF you think he's far off the mark or something more essential has been overlooked or even omitted then by all means state what it is.

From facebook account: 'It goes without saying that in order to understand the world around you it's a necessity to pull away from mainstream media and focus on what academics are saying. For current affairs, Noam Chomsky, the world's most quoted author, ought to be your anchor point. In the video below he talks about Covid-19 for about 5 minutes, you have to go to 07.00 point for it to be addressed. To me he gives the clearest overview of why things have gone so wrong. It sounds irrefutable to me and explains the stance adopted by governments very well, which is something forbade in the mainstream media. So to clue up on why the Covid -19 pandemic became 'a colossal market failure' as he put it, go to the 07.00 but before you do that, make sure you understand what neo-liberalism is, otherwise it's not worth watching it.'
