AE's short but by no means sweet leadership bid in 2016 has surely not been forgotten already?

When Ted Heath's gov. took us into the European Community. (Without so much as a by your leave.)
Ted Heath did no such thing.

We are sailing away, just a question of how far (and that's a mutually agreed distance.)
.... and there's going to be a lot more sea to sail on (not to mention rather less of the British Isles) once Greenland and Antarctica have shed most of their ice. That problem is of far more importance to my mind than any aspect of the UK's survival as a political entity, or its relationship with Europe or the USA. But is it going to be addressed in the next five years?
In the quote, above, I should've written "... a distance to be mutually agreed, if possible."

Don't disagree with John C, however, we all know it's hard to see what can be done in a 5-year window to change the way of the world and where it's going.

Even the promises are becoming platitudes - a sign that policies and actions will be increasingly reactive, instead of proactive, from now on. Each nation will begin to act in its own primary interests and the veneer of a united front will continue to crack until it falls apart completely.

A Swedish lass is no match for all the deniers and abusers and, to a great extent, is just a sop to salve the consciences of those who are concerned but unable to do much to alter the sorry scheme of things, yet can put their faith and trust in a purely symbolic vessel. A latter-day Joan, of the Ark of the Climate Covenant.

Now there's no stopping what's already well on the way.

Why not name him? Keir Starmer.
Because my point was that he is another London left wing intellectual, which hasn't worked too well for them lately.
He would, however, look credible which might distinguish him from the previous two.

Incidentally in what sense was Corbyn an "intellectual"?
You speak of JC as if he's already dead, at a time when he's given himself a stay of crucifixion despite his cruel betrayal by the Judas Mann.

All the Pharisees & Sadducees of the Labour Party have been out to get him since his disciples ushered him into the English equivalent of the Temple of Jerusalem.

Even the noble Romans cheered his entry there, the other day, so much succour had he rendered unto those poor unfortunates - who still think they rule the world. Their days will soon be done and they themselves undone.

And, does not serving a year at North London Poly as a ragged-trousered, student agitator - of some experience - qualify one as some kind of intellectual?

For how can one fight intellectuals, cleanly & fairly, if not with their own weapons - words of great weight and razor sharpness!?

John,

Might I commend to you the practice of T. S. Eliot - namely to provide notes to your poems for the benefit of lesser mortals?

Michael, what's done is done and no use me putting a gloss on it.
