That is an opinion that I'd not previously heard - can you expand ?Kevin Thurlow wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 12:09 amI think there was reference to the Prince of Wales (i.e the then heir to the throne) in the early 20th Century (so I think Edward VII) visiting pubs in the Mile End Road. Everyone laughed uproariously, but it seems that was true!
The establishment has ever been biased against Leeds, so I imagine that was just a joke.

I think it fair to say that Leeds have never had favoured status - other clubs have miraculously had stoppage time added until they score, or get more penalties in their favour than against etc. But I have vaguely followed Leeds, so I might be biased! I find it difficult to enjoy football these days - too much cheating.
5 goals - Malcolm Macdonald?

Who scored all six goals for his team in an F.A. Cup match, yet somehow had his team knocked out of the cup 3-1?

The late lamented Denis Law, as the original Man City v Luton Town tie (where he scored that half dozen) was abandoned.

I support United not City, and maybe (even) more importantly I'm not *that* old

Archie Thompson scored 13 times in a 31-0 victory for Australia against American Samoa, but presumably there's someone who's done better in club matches.

Thanks for that and as you suggest you might be biased (don't fans of all teams think that their team is hard done by ?). And of course we know which team introduced systematic cheating don't we......Kevin Thurlow wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 10:03 pm"That is an opinion that I'd not previously heard - can you expand ?"

John Petrie scored 13 when Arbroath beat Bon Accord 36-0 in a Scottish Cup tie in 1885. There's been wider margins of victory but no mentions of more prolific scorers.

There was a 2002 league match in Madagascar won 149-0, but they were all own goals and it was suspected that the losing team wasn't really trying.

Ok, perhaps I should clarify, I meant in the English football league.
Clue: after he retired he went to work at Electrolux in the same town best described as a northern town down south with a team thats thrashed everyone many times over.
