I started at the beginning of the season but there have been a few Gameweek 2 starters that have surpassed me within the last 2 months. I finally have a 12 point lead over the closest one and my goal for this last gameweek is to hold all them off.

Week 38

We'll dispense with the quote this time round and look back at the final Gameweek of the season with just 5 points separating the three top teams after Week 37. I called the deciding factor in the preview - it was the choice of defenders. Leader John Peters went with the Arsenal pairing of Gabriel and White and left Spurs defender Porro on the bench. Trailing by just one point, Thomas Evans put his faith in Porro and his fellow Tottenham centre back Van de Ven. In this case it was a comprehensive victory for the Spurs duo - outpointing the Gunners by 20 to 3 and this enabled Thomas to win this year's Premier Chess by a 15 point margin from John and the fast improving Sam Herring. This was the first week Thomas had taken first place so it showed what a close competition we had this year. Dax Bale had a double disappointment losing the Cup Final and dropping down to 4th place a mere point behind the joint second places. David Egginton was 5th and must regret not holding on to his Bench Boost chip.

Top scorer of the week was Edward Hargreaves "Tasty Biscuitmen" whilst no crumbs of comfort for Ewan Kershaw with the Week 38 wooden spoon.
