Christmas 2022 Adverts

Post by Simon Rogers » Sun Aug 14, 2022 9:38 pm

On 1st August, believe it or not, I received an email from The Works titled "Lets Get Crafting".
It was an advert about ideas for Christmas and Christmas Decorations.
Has anyone else seen any Christmas adverts yet?
It's definitely the earliest retail advert I've seen for the festive period.

Restaurants are taking bookings for Christmas lunches- I received my invitation for the office turkey dinner including free cracker last week.

It really is ruining Christmas for everyone, it used to start in December (maybe late November at best) but forcing Christmas onto people progressively earlier and earlier just makes them utterly sick of it long before the holiday has even happened.

The absolute icing on cake of the souless wastes of space they employ to run these corporations is after relentlessly ramming down everyone's throat for months staff are forced to remove all traces of Christmas and load up on Easter stock....on Christmas Eve!
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

A lot of this is the consequence of the specific way supermarkets are run: heavy focus on just-in-time delivery and other mechanisms to minimize the amount of storage space needed. What this results in is a specific area of the supermarket for seasonal goods, which gets filled with whatever the next set of seasonal items is.

Not quite an advertisement, but last weekend in my local superstore there were industrial sized tubs of confectionery piled high by the exit.
