Middx won the U180 and Essex the Minor. Not sure who won the others. The results may be up somewhere already. Amazingly, there were individual trophies for everyone!!

Might (?) be our first set of back to back wins in the chess.

Players rarely the issue - even today multiple 200+ not playing. Organisation/interest another matter! Mark Birkin has done a brilliant job with that the past two years. Think he may be retired from it now, so goodness knows next year.

Congratulations also to all concerned with the organisation of what appears to have been a smooth and successful day. I did wonder whether the increase in the arbiting team would turn out to be overkill. On the contrary, it seems to have enabled last year's glitches to be avoided this time.

Ah, so it was 7 different counties winning this year. Wonder if any county champs history buffs can say when that last happened?

PS. There was one glitch with an arbiter who shall remain nameless struggling to work out/remember how to set the clock for Fischer timings. I wonder if this was the first application of rule G4 (hope I got the rule number right). It all worked out in the end.

One thing I forgot to say was commiserations to those that lost matches yesterday. It can be a long way to travel to go home empty-handed, though the experience of playing on Finals Day is great, especially if you get the chance to watch some exciting games.

Does anyone know if any photos have been put up anywhere yet?

Not even in England!!

We've had quite a number in Scotland and we had 3 in the Northumberland Rapidplay.

Either they were short of clocks or the arbiter did not follow advice to have a clock set with 5 second increments and then just edit the times.

Thanks, Neil. Not as uncommon as I thought then. How far back do your records go, and does anyone have a complete record of the winners of all the sections back to when they first started (at different times)? I know the BCF/ECF Yearbooks should have them, but has anyone pulled all the information together? I have a vague memory someone might have done this, but maybe not.
