I thought Matthew Carr's post deserved a thread of its own - so here it is!
Middlesex and Yorkshire are the two contenders.

It would help to know the start time... (I think it is a 1.30pm start time?)

We seem to have a mixture of openings today with 1 b3, 1 b4 and 1 f4 all making an appearance along with the more popular e4, d4 and c4

Interesting to see the Yorkshire board order on 1/2.
For all the issues with not that many counties playing etc - this match is still quite something. 16 board match sustaining an average grade over 200.
Yorkshire as strong as has been organised in memory if still not actually at full theoretical strength. I wonder if it'll be enough. Nasty early accident on board 8.

Do Yorkshire outgrade Middlesex? The early accident on board 8 has left the Yorks player a pawn down. Anyone have any idea what the assessement is on board 2? Rook and two pawns for knight and bishop.

Current position board 2 (after Black's 21... Qc8):
I think I'd take White here.
[edit - the computer appears to disagree with me...!]

Thanks. Interesting to see 6 players without current grades or am I misreading that?

So, 2 of the Yorkshire players are not ECF registered. Does that not matter this year?

Hi Matthew - sorry, that was just what the link said. I'd be the last one to want any match to be decided by someone who wasn't a participant, even if rules are rules!

Understandable John
The reason ive been given for the grades not being there is "Technical issues". Thats all I know on this.
