Yes, some strong teams in those matches :) Glad it all seems to have worked!

Middlesex and Northumberland both running at ~195 average, Yorkshire/Lincs & Norfolk all ten points/board behind that. Yorkshire obviously have (much) more to potentially add on paper, not sure quite how likely.

Unless Surrey/Essex (or GM even) get much more organised going forwards (very possible!), I guess the semis are between those 5 teams.

One of our players had a temporary disconnection, and when he got back in, he saw his game was defaulted; not sure it chnaged the result

Soem counties seem able to get their better players to play, and they look favourites; it would be good to see Northumberland winning it rather than the traditional county giants

That of course is exactly the issue about which I protested during and after the trial round.

It also happened to a Surrey player against GM yesterday.

And to an Essex player vs Beds & Herts. The 'beneficiary' didn't feel good about it but, like fingerslips, I guess it's just something that's going to happen from time to time as I don't think there's an option to resume the game.

That explains the strange result in one of the games I looked through just now, so 1-1 in disconnections, but actually based on the positions, cost Surrey the match (I'm assuming it counts as a 13 board draw rather than a 12 board Surrey win?)

I had to check, but you are correct that the match result is a draw. Should a tiebreak be needed, that would be determined over 12 boards.

Had one side or the other won by a clear margin, say 8-4, I think Surrey might has asked if GM would return the favour from the trial round and agree a draw. I don't think anyone would expect or wish GM (or any other team) to concede a match in that fashion.

The fault lies with Chess.com, who persist in alleging that players have resigned when they clearly have not.

Looking at the rules, I'd say you have up to 3 minutes to reconnect; our player says he wasn't given as much time as this; is that the same experience elsewhere?

At work we have 10-60 minutes reconnect when paying millions on support. SO seems a rethink?

I take the liberty of repeating what I said about the incident on 6th June. My emboldening is new.

I was considering my reply to [my opponent's] 17th move when a message flashed across my screen stating that he had gone offline. Almost immediately - no more than a few seconds later - another message appeared stating that he had resigned and that I had won.
You have whatever time Chess.com see fit to give you. I very much doubt that that is ever three minutes.

You may well be right, but if so, the ECF needs to change what it says in the Rules, specifically E.5.7 (b)
E.5.7 In particular players should note that on the chess.com platform:
(a) failure to make their first move within 55 seconds will result in loss of the game;
(b) failure to reconnect within 3 minutes will result in loss of the game;
(c) in the first 10 moves of play only, any player taking more than 30 minutes on
any one move will lose the game;
(d) closure of a chess.com user account during play will lose the game;
(e) mouse or finger slips cannot be rectified.
Not the ECF's fault of course

"County Champions: Northumberland"

Well done! Nice to see a different winner. Have they ever won the "traditional" one?
