Unlikely I would think. I suspect we are looking at a general shut down until August at least, longer if the social isolation rules aren't relaxed.

I doubt Surrey will nominate and huge disruption juniors schools shut and more social isolation.

I don't doubt that your views are highly influential, but I hope that those of others will also be taken into account.

My view is not influential. My 12 weeks isolation may be 16 with the education announcement. Not least where will be able to play.?

I think you'll find John that the only alternative to the current format of the county championships is to go and live in IranJohn Reyes wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 2:51 pmit will be interested to see which counties got the Union nominations as I hope that the county championship will go ahead this year, but I do think it should be re vamp and this is the time
I've had a read of the first 100 years which is interesting
My understanding is that all changes to the county championships would be, or have been, wrong, so it is clearly time to reverse the change introduced the last time the championships were suspended
andDue to the Second World War, the Championships during the 1940s were again interrupted (1946-50)
I think that you should propose a motion to ECF Council, therefore, that we revert to the system from 1908 (as a pension consultant, pretty much my favourite year ) and have the National stages in Autumn/Winter, and the Union stages in Spring/SummerThe resumption of the Championship also afforded a rule change. Since 1908 the inter-union matches had been played in the winter, at the commencement of a new cycle. Now they were to be played in the late Spring / early Summer, at the end of a cycle.

I am all for a Jan to Christmas season with a summer break for County and League Chess. I think that is a great proposal.

In fact Surrey have nominated the Open and U140 teams for the next stage (whatever that is).

The revised deadline for nominations is today. I would expect a further announcement from the ECF shortly after Easter.
