I think that you may be confusing the Minor Counties Championship with the U2050 Counties Championship.

I am! What's the difference?
Each Division of the Counties Championships is run in two parts: the Union Qualifying Stages (within which each Union has autonomy) and the National Stages. Counties compete in the National Stages by virtue of qualifying from the Union Stages or otherwise being nominated by the Unions.

The Divisions are Open, U2050, U1850, U1650 and U1450. Under in this context means that all team members must be below the limit.

In the National Stages, there is also a separate Minor Counties Championship for counties which fail to qualify for the National Stages of the Open Division. Teams in the MCC must have an average rating below 2050.

The above is simplified slightly, but not much.

LMS has
27 March – Close of nominations
31 March - Draw committee meets
23 April – U1850 Preliminary Round match to determine the last 8
14 May – Open, Minor Counties, U1850 & U1450 Quarter Finals
21 May – U2050 & U1650 Quarter Finals
11 June – Semi Finals of all championships
02 July – Finals of all championships
Leics, MCCU champions, have declined to enter the u1850, so there may not be a preliminary match; we will find out on Thursday presumably

I think the information on the ECF website at https://www.englishchess.org.uk/countie ... ship-2022/ may be more up to date than that on the LMS.

However, the news that the MCCU have only made one nomination in the U1850 is more up to date still.

A Covid-19 adjustment for 2021/22 will see the draws published for each championship (other than the U1850) not later than 28 days before the quarter final default play by date for a particular championship. The U1850 draw will be published as soon as possible following the close of nominations as there are likely to be one or more preliminary round matches.
I assume that is what is being referred to

I did wonder, given the NCCU matches end on 17 April LMS

Yes, and also the absence to any reference to a meeting of the Draw Committee on Thursday 31st March,
