English Womens Championship
There's a rather cryptic new item on the ECF website, highlighted by the "recent changes" sidebar.
http://www.englishchess.org.uk/competit ... mpionship/
You cannot get any further, as the content is password protected.
There are terms and conditions
http://www.englishchess.org.uk/competit ... onditions/
I'm assuming it's an event the ECF are thinking of running where they've built the links ahead of having something to put in them.
That said, the English Seniors announced by Jack last week as running at Coulsdon in the week before the August Bank Holiday has yet to feature either on the ECF site or the CCF one.

Re: English Womens Championship
There's been something of a publicity blitz at the ECF site.

The link to entrants is inactive. It's this weekend coming. Who is playing?

Re: English Womens Championship
Thanks. I lost it with the Seniors. Must have been their bump not CCF. Bit worse - 2 county games put off because of this booking. Hopefully putting to Metropolitan w/e was not the cause of that cancellation. Hopefully Alex will reply on other.

The venue change took place some time ago but the condition that the winner must be 2100+ to qualify for the England team has now been removed

There aren't so many candidates above 2100 that those above that rating wouldn't have been near automatic choices if they declared their availability.LawrenceCooper wrote: the condition that the winner must be 2100+ to qualify for the England team has now been removed

Re: English Womens Championship
It also makes it far more attractive for those under 2100 so I hope that it will lead to an increase in entries.Roger de Coverly wrote:There aren't so many candidates above 2100 that those above that rating wouldn't have been near automatic choices if they declared their availability.LawrenceCooper wrote: the condition that the winner must be 2100+ to qualify for the England team has now been removed

... and the tournament has now been played, though one would have to think to click on one of the links in the left hand column of the ECF page to find out the results.
(I'll save you the trouble: http://www.englishchess.org.uk/competit ... mpionship/ )
Not a high number of entries, to put it mildly, but with the vast majority of the competitors being candidates for the fourth or fifth places in the national team, nonetheless representative in terms of strength. Obviously I am delighted that two Barbican players finished first and second.
(Ignorance alert: To what extent has there previously been an English women's title, as opposed to the British women's title ?)

It has been awarded as part of the British Championship for as long as I have been involved with it.Jonathan Rogers wrote:(Ignorance alert: To what extent has there previously been an English women's title, as opposed to the British women's title ?)

Ok. But are there two English women's titles now, or will only the British Women's title be at stake in Bournemouth?Alex Holowczak wrote:It has been awarded as part of the British Championship for as long as I have been involved with it.Jonathan Rogers wrote:(Ignorance alert: To what extent has there previously been an English women's title, as opposed to the British women's title ?)

One English title, which Kanwal won, one British title to be decided in the next fortnight.Jonathan Rogers wrote:Ok.
