Do we know what the venue is planned to be?

I'm assuming Hastings somewhere.

Don't hold me to it, but I think that the venue is the London Mindsports Centre.

The event is only connected with the Hastings International Chess Congress in two respects:

1. Caplin Systems sponsor both.

2. The Hastings Congress Committee have agreed that the winner of the Caplin Menchik Memorial will be offered conditions to play in the Calin Hastings International Chess Congress 2022 - 2023.

Well done to everyone involved for making this tournament happen. It pleases me greatly to see women's chess on the up.

According to Chess24, Kamila's round 2 game was already over before the other games had started. I'm sure there was a good reason for that!

A Round 9 game played in advance gives Kamila Hryshchenko of Ukraine a WIM norm.

What sort of rules govern the playing of games in advance please? I can see the advantages of such flexibility, but it is a divergence from the conditions under which the other competitors are participating. Post prompted by but not specific to this event. Congratulations to Ms Hryshchenko.

I can't comment on the rules or if guidance from FIDE was sought but clashing with 4NCL potentially denying one of the players the chance to play for a norm in round 10 would seem reasonable grounds to request it.

This was certainly an issue in tournaments longer than 9 rounds when you could freeze a norm after 9 games.

However, that is no longer permitted in All Play All tournaments.

Games are not infrequently played out of order for various reasons, for instance if a player is taken ill.

In the present instance, Hryshchenko would still have obtained a WIM norm if she had forfeited the game played in advance.

I did say this wasn't just about Ms Hryshchenko. I had assumed that there were some rules on this. Otherwise what is to prevent multiple players playing to a different schedule within what is supposed to be the same event? For instance players who are likely to arrive late and depart early might be treated differently. Would it be possible to play on another weekend? Do the games have to be played in one country? IIRC a game in the British was moved because of a potential issue with a participant at the World Junior (Vishy?). I'd expect the rule of thumb to be about an all play all being a single entity or suchlike, but I raised this from curiosity not to complain.
