I certainly remember it is as being the other way round - indeed the ECF Yearbook quotes it as Miss H Koneru when she won the British Championships.
The various referrals on Wiki don't make this any clearer.

I think they make it clear that her name is one where the family name (Koneru) is written first. Whoever decided how to show her name in the British Championship results had to choose between writing her name as she would (Koneru Humpy) or anglicising it to Humpy Koneru.

Yes - I was tidying up a database recently to get rid of duplicates and quite a lot of them were Indian and Chinese names, where there is confusion (for us) over the order of the names.

Anyway, reverting to the subject, I hope she wins.

The names on the backs of the Indian cricketers in the Test match all look wrong to me. Obviously they're not.

I'd prefer Harika Dronavalli, or Dronavalli Harika.

Or maybe they are. I noticed while watching today's highlights that most have one name (e.g., Jasprit not Bumrah) whereas his fast bowling partner has I. Sharma on his back to distinguish him from R. Sharma.
He could have Ishant to distinguish him instead. I must watch closely at the next test to see whether Rohit has Rohit or R. Sharma.

There are some East European countries (I forget which - Hungary?) where the convention is to put the family name first.
I think it's different with Indians? They only start to use the family name as adults?
