Re: 2019 European Individual Championship
Last round, kicking off at 0900 BST (I think):
Stevanova (7) v Gaponenko (8)
Cramling (7) v Kashlinskaya (7½)
Sebag (7½) v Dzagnidze (7)
Seven other players on seven, nine on six and a half. These include Houska, who presumably has no option but to win if she's to have a chance of the top fourteen. She does at least have a favourable draw, having White against Paramzina (RUS, WGM, 2214).
Not sure of the tiebreak rules as the guide on the official site helpfully tells us:

Thanks for that! The order of players that finish with the same number of points shall be determined by application of the tie-breaking criteria according the FIDE WCC regulations applying for all qualification events and then the ECU regulations.

I think that the "tie-breaking criteria according the FIDE WCC regulations applying for all qualification events" refers to https://www.fide.com/component/content/ ... cycle.html,JustinHorton wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2019 9:37 pmNot sure of the tiebreak rules as the guide on the official site helpfully tells us:

Thanks. I guess that allows tie-breaks to be worked out prior to the last round starting?

Three and a half hours in: Sebag has drawn, Gaponenko is really struggling against Stefanova. If she loses, I think Kashlinskaya would win on tie-break? Her game against Cramling has been very equal for a long time.

Five-way tie at the top - I think Kashlinskaya is the winner. Houska drew in a rook and two pawns against rook ending that was, unfortunately, won.

Re: 2019 European Individual Championship
Final classification and Kashlinskaya is indeed champion. Sebag second, Paehtz came through almost unnoticed into third. Gutting for Gaponenko who finishes fourth, having looked the likely winner despite being seeded no higher than 21.
The top three seeds came nowhere - Goryachkina nineteenth, Dzagnidze tenth, Khotenashvili twenty-seventh, a place below Arakhamia-Grant. Houska matched her seeding with twenty-third place, but would I think have squeezed into the top fourteen had she clinched her endgame.
Good tournament.

I also reached that conclusion.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2019 3:14 pmHouska matched her seeding with twenty-third place, but would I think have squeezed into the top fourteen had she clinched her endgame.
However, in the event there were five players on 8 points and nine on 7½. I am disappointed for Jovanka, but pleased for those fourteen that no tiebreaks were necessary.
