Lei Tingjie had the better of a draw whilst Tan escaped with a draw so keeps her 1/2 point lead.

Vaishali has now won three in a row - her equivalent in the open event turns out to not to be her brother, but rather Vidit - and that makes the her next round encounter with Lei more interesting than it seemed a few days ago.

Her fourth win in a row!

In the last round Tan meets Muzychuk, the only player who still hasn't won a game. Surely not....?

Tan secures the draw needed to finish in first. Lei Tingjie is losing a crazy game where she sacrificed her queen for a minor piece which looked sufficient compensation but nothing more.

Apart from the run of losses in the middle ;)

But yes, certainly one to watch when the next Candidates comes along.

Was I the only one surprised to see from the final crosstable that Humpy Koneru was second on tie-break? A very strong player but one that converted a minus score into a plus without much media attention.

22 decisive games in the women's Candidates; 11 of them featured Rameshbabu Vaishali.

If she had won either of her games against Tan, she'd have finished first
