Qualifying for 2022 Candidates

Post by Mick Norris » Wed Nov 10, 2021 9:51 am

From a FIDE tweet
The lineup for #FIDEWomenCandidates 2022 is almost complete:

Goryachkina (World Championship runner-up)

Koneru, Lagno (Grand Prix 2019–2021)

Kosteniuk, Tan, A. Muzychuk (World Cup 2021)

Lei (Grand Swiss 2021)

The highest-rated player in Jan 2022 will take the remaining spot.

Presumably this would be Hou? Assuming she declined, would it default to the next highest-rated otherwise unqualified player (currently Muzychuk M, I think) or would it be organisers' choice?
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

FIDE
The player having the highest standard rating in the January 2022 FIDE rating list, provided she has at least 15 standard games rated in FIDE standard rating lists 2021 or participated in events C or D.
with C being the World Cup and D the Grand Swiss

I'd imagine Hou wouldn't play, but doesn't meet the 15 games anyway; Maria Muzychuk looks likely then
