But the live coverage appears to have died. At least I got to see Luke play 4 moves and Martin play the Staunton Gambit against Sokolov :)

Not again, its really annoying when this happens and silly, with the amount of technology out there and with the technique of peering, there is no excuse for bandwidth issues. Someone could even text the moves.

Martin plays for my old club Wigston. Interesting opening, hope the relay comes back up.

Somebody must have been larking about, its back and Martin did not play the Staunton Gambit which looks highly risky to me.

I have just risen from my sick bed to hear the Staunton Gambit described as "highly risky". Well, maybe so, but you have some play unlike the position White has now.

Yeah but look at the ELO difference! Perhaps Adly played it because his country has just had a revolution.
I ascribe to the theory that everything is connected.

Well you play it if you want to, this patzer will stick to what he knows, chess is not just about openings, its about the middle game too.

The middle game is my forte, I have a friend and have skittled many a woodpush with him over the years, so many times have I gained an edge in the middle game, only to have that edge stolen off me in the endgame. In terms of mental focus he could see deeper into a position than I, whereas I was better at looking wider into a position, what this meant was, he was a better tactical player and I was a better positional player.

If I'd been awake I would have realised that Martin is an e4 player and a Staunton Gambit was highly unlikely although in our seven plus games that we have played I've yet to have the black pieces
