Women’s World Championship Hatay, Turkey December 2010

Jovanka Houska lost a hard fought match to Humpy Koneru rated 2600, (the world’s highest rated female player apart from Judit Polgar) 1,5-0.5 and was therefore eliminated in round 2. My thanks to everyone who supported Jovanka, especially including those who financially helped her including pledges of private support and the English Chess Federation.

Due to the clash with the London Chess Classic there was just one English GM playing. Stewart Haslinger, playing for SG Trier, drew with Pavel Tregubov rated 2598 and Vladimir Chuchelov rated 2565 both in 4-4 draws.
