No, the current policy is only to send the winners (or co-winners) from the selection trials. Isn't the 2011 event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 12-22 November?
That is not what Peter Purland said at the trial itself. He offered the possibility of an extra place to children who turned up and did well at his 'National Chess Junior Squad' tournament. He made it quite clear that there was no 'co-winner' policy.

Equal material now but Yang-Fan must have a winning advantage.

I like the way the moves are colour-coded to show what the engine thinks of the players' choices. 1. ... c5 (in reply to 1. e4) is marked as "suboptimal", which is what I've always suspected.

Edit. Damn, Yang-Fang was only able to draw it:

Did he miss any winning chances in the last part of the game (say, move 28 onwards)?

Yes, after Rxc3 Kd1 is winning as there is no way to stop white's kingside pawns

I remember losing to Daniel Sadzikowski, 1st= in the Open U16, in Krakow on a Junior Squad trip in 2005. He was tipped to be big news - looks like he's getting there.

I'd just like to thank all the players who represented England. Congratulations!

Further thanks should be given to the coaches and parents, who so ably supported the children on this trip.

We must give very serious thought to the way forward for junior chess in England.
