Michael Adams played board 2 for ISEK AQUAMATCH S.K. scoring 8.5/9 and performing at 2857. Despite this his team finished 3rd on 18 match points from 13 games whilst the two winners both scored 25! One feature of the league is that a number of boards are reserved for female and junior players.

Vladimir Georgiev of Macedonia won the event with 7.5/9, half ahead of Keith Arkell with 7. Peter Wells was 3rd= with Krasimir Rusev from Bulgaria on 6.5. Yang-Fan Zhou, Ali Jaunooby, Jeremy Menadue and Allan Pleasants were amongst the group of players on 5.5.

Second International Chess Tournament "Rethymnon 13-20 July

Lorin D’Costa, Peter Poobalasingam, Paul Townsend, Sarah Hegarty, Selina Khoo, Ravi Haria and Tim Adams are all played. Lorin, Peter & Ravi finished on 5.5, Paul & Sarah 5, Selina 4 & Tim 3.5. Ravi, in particular, can be very pleased with his performance and he won the Under 12 trophy as well as gaining 27 rating points.

Probably not. This is what ChessBase (http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=6529) had to say about it - "This move is close to incomprehensible, and one is forced to wonder whether the player didn't accidentally let go of the piece while intending to castle. Needless to say, the usual move here is 0-0."

An attempt at castling manually while keeping the rook on h1 in order push the h-pawn? It strikes me as rather slow compared to the normal 0-0 and f4-f5.
