Congratulations to Maria Yurenok who despite being seeded 37th out of 38 players secured her first WIM norm with a round to spare with a performance of 2311. She finished on 5/9 against an average of 2268. Simon Ansell was also playing and scored 5.5 with a rating performance of 2463.

Nigel Short is playing in a category 18 six player double round all-play-all which includes Vassily Ivanchuk and has an average rating of 2700. At the half way stage Nigel is on 3/5, with a rating performance of 2775, having won his last two games against Alekseev & Bruzon after losing to Ivanchuk, who leads with 4/5, in round 1.
