IM Simon Ansell, WFM Maria Yurenok, Ian Thompson, Edmund Player and Philip Tozer are playing in this popular Icelandic open. There are 20 GMs playing, including six over 2600. The final scores after nine rounds were as follows:
Simon scored 5.5, Edmund 5, Ian 4.5, Philip 4 and Maria 3.5. Edmund had a chance of an IM norm going into the last round but lost with black to GM Mikhail Ivanov. Nevertheless, he can be very pleased with his 2394 performance.
