Does he have any more classical chess due this calendar year?
Full line up of Wijk aan Zee is being released tomorrow morning (Firouzja plays, which is good to see)

As far as I can tell, no classic time-control chess. Not sure why 2700.com are listing it. Maybe somewhere in there are some longplay time controls and games that count for FIDE ratings. Not sure I can spot them, though.

Fair point. I don't suppose many people would want to sit at home in their "online playing environment" for 4-5 hours and only get one game out of it! (The irony(?) being that they are willing to play countless games of blitz/bullet chess in the same time frame?)LawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 7:32 pmI can't think of many online events that include classical chess.Christopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 4:31 pm

Chess.com says that the final will be held in-person in Toronto: https://www.chess.com/article/view/cham ... -tour-2023 (you have to scroll down a bit). That is presumably why it is listed on 2700chess, which I think does not include on-line events but does include OTB rapid and blitz

I do like how Caruana and Nepomniachtchi both had to start off in Division 2 and qualify for Division 1...culminates in live in-person Finals
Nope. Still don't understand it. Is it like golf? The CCT Finals happen on December 9 through 16. The Finals consist of a single-elimination bracket featuring the champion of each of the tour's events and the top players from the tour leaderboard.
Should I have heard of 17-year-old Denis Lazavik before?
Impressive he is in the Finals alongside the other big names.
Can anyone explain why Kramnik features in the photo-montage at the top of the CCT website?
(Sorry, this has gone very off-topic from the European Team Championship!)

Lazavik was playing in the Grand Swiss.
