A quick note to let people know that the 47th Guernsey International Chess Festival will be taking place from the 15th to the 21st October 2023.

The venue will be the same as last year and registration will be opening soon on the website https://guernseychessfestival.org.gg/.

The organising committee for the 47th BWCI Guernsey International Chess Festival is pleased to announce that English IM Brandon Clarke will be participating in this year’s event.

Brandon is a former British Junior Champion, Australian Blitz Champion and New Zealand Champion.

His career highlights include winning the UK Chess Challenge, playing in the PRO Chess League, as well as representing England in both the European and World Championships. He was awarded the IM title in 2019 and then proceeded on a 65 game unbeaten streak in open tournaments across the world.

This will be his first appearance at the Guernsey International Chess Festival and we look forward to welcoming him in October.

Blitz Tournament

The organising committee for the 47th BWCI Guernsey International Chess Festival is pleased to announce that there will be a Blitz Tournament held at St. James on Saturday 14th October starting at 19:00.


1st PRIZE: £75.00, 2nd PRIZE: £50.00, 3rd PRIZE: £25:00
Additional Chessable prizes in addition to the cash prizes.


TIME CONTROL: 3 minutes plus 2 additional seconds per move, starting from move 1.


Free entry to Open Tournament or Challenger Tournament participants.
£5.00 entry fee for other FIDE registered players.
£10.00 entry fee for non-FIDE registered players.
