Gold for that Uzbekistan team is pretty in the "main" event awesome by any standards, as well.
Yes, and probably will not be last.

It's hard not to feel pleased for Ukraine (for obvious reasons) and for Georgia (who received the desperately sad news mid tournament that Bela Khotenashvili's son had passed away).
The Georgian team was coached by GM Davit Jojua who organised the charity event for Bela Khotenashvili's son. A tight knit team, and I'm sure that news hit them pretty hard. Congratulations to them.

Someone mentioned elsewhere that none of the final top three figured in the
top 10 of the starting rank. Just checked and that would appear to be correct

I would liked to have made the final table longer to include where the original
top 10 finished but not enough to room to fit in Norway (3rd) who came in 59th.
(I wonder what their chess forums are reading like at the moment.)

Not satisfied with winning the Olympiad Uzbekistan also won the most stylish team award with Mongolia. Denmark won the equivalent award in the women's event.

I was a bit confused about this. The Ugandan women's team also won something, but it wasn't presented to them.

England were named as one of six other teams which had been shortlisted.

Uganda arrived late but they eventually got presented with their award. I think it was best uniform.

Thanks. I have not been able to watch everything live.

England's performance overall was a bit of a disappointment I thought. We were clear favourites today and should have won that match.

And I think we can take it, from that alone, how seriously you view this subject. Perhaps it would be better to have chosen silence earlier.
No, it's how seriously I take any conversation including Justin Horton on the subject of Nigel Short.

Perhaps it would have been better for you to choose silence about 15 years ago.

Well, your various comments on the subject don't make that protestation ring true, but if you're sensitive about people criticising Nigel then I confess I think you could have chosen a less insensitive guy to be protective of.

Has the chess world had its 'Me Too' moment yet? (For the avoidance of doubt, if it hasn't, then it is long overdue.)

" only applied to juniors and "vulnerable" adults. But if it's true, just publish it, but not where someone else is in line for the libel complaint. In other words, not here and probably not on John Upham's site either.
I am not unsympathetic to this view but John has had a decent time to make his displeasure known should he in fact have a problem with it, and it is not impossible to contact moderation on this site should you or anybody else so wish. (Personally I propose to make no comment here on the allegations, nor to repeat them: I do propose to repeat the claim that raising the issue with an ECF official appears to have brought forth no response, and to comment that if this is the case it is not, on the face of it, impressive.)

I'm sure in your mind you see yourself as performing some kind of valuable 'journalistic' role - asking the difficult questions. To most people you come accross simply as bitter and obsessed. The subject of Nigel Short is one of the topics that it is impossible for you display a semblance of balance.

Now, we have a double hobby horse topic of Nigel & Social Justice I will confidently predict 20 plus pages of the unregulated Justin Horton inquiry into the matter. Perhaps the ECF could make you a Tsar.
