GCT Superbet Poland Rapid and Blitz:

Rapid: 10 player Round Robin from Thursday 19th May to Saturday 21st May. Three rounds each day, at 1300, 1430 and 1600 BST. Time Limit: 25 minutes plus 10 seconds increment.

Blitz: 10 player Double Round Robin on Sunday 22nd May and Sunday 23rd May. Nine rounds each day, commencing at 1300 BST and at 30 minute intervals thereafter. Time Limit: 5 minutes plus 2 seconds increment.

Vishy beat his former second Radek Wojtaszek, then sacrificed a pawn to crush world no. 8 Wesley So, then crashed through against Anton Korobov's French to end the day in the sole lead on a perfect 6/6.

The 2nd event on the Grand Chess Tour, the Superbet Rapid and Blitz, is taking place in the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in the Polish capital Warsaw. The war just across the border, and a huge influx of refugees, means that the history particularly of World War II has become more relevant than ever. 13th World Champion Garry Kasparov met with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to discuss Russia’s invasion.

52-year-old chess legend Vishy Anand continued to dominate in Warsaw on Day 2 of the Superbet Rapid and Blitz as he raced to a perfect 10/10 start with thumping wins over Kirill Shevchenko and Levon Aronian. Only local hero Jan-Krzysztof Duda managed to hold the 5-time World Champion to a draw, leaving Vishy two points clear of Richard Rapport, who won all three games on Friday.

Viswanthan Anand dominated the Rapid starting with 5.5/6 and finishing with 7/9 but an inconsistent performance in the blitz allowed Duda to pip him by half a point in the combined standings at the end.
