An excellent tournament so far, particularly today. I consider it unfair to say, as the official bulletin does, that
"Day 4 of the Superbet Chess Classic Romania was projected to be another eventful day and it did not fail to disappoint".

Many thanks to Mick and others for their contributions to this thread. I shall try to be more evident for the future GCT events.
Round 9 today (Saturday 14th May) starts one hour earlier than hitherto, at 1200 BST. The round will be followed by any necessary playoffs.

So? That would normally be precluded only in official events.LawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 12:02 pmI see that the two French players and two of the four USA are playing in the last round.
Forty to fifty years ago, that would have been a valid assumption. It is not necessarily the case nowadays.Mick Norris wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 1:19 pmI assume that MVL and Firouzja are working together in the run up to the Candidates

MVL had said he would if he didn't reach the Candidates himselfDavid Sedgwick wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 1:47 pmForty to fifty years ago, that would have been a valid assumption.
