Keymer-Dubov, Esipenko-Grischuk, Bacrot-Nakamura and Aronian-Vidit are among the games to look forward to as the 2022 FIDE Grand Prix begins in Berlin on Friday 4th February at 15:00 CET. Ding Liren, who failed to get a visa, and Dmitry Andreikin, who tested positive, are absent, but the remaining 12 players have made it to Berlin, including Daniil Dubov, who has twice tested negative since he was forced to pull out of the Tata Steel Masters.

Shirov-Harikrishna looks like the pick of the bunch so far, an interesting poisoned pawn line in the Advance Caro-Kann.

Both Chess24 and chess.com are treating the four pools as four separate events, which makes it a pain to switch between the games. Any other sites where it is easier to watch?

LiChess has all eight games on the same screen: https://lichess.org/broadcast/fide-gran ... 1/JsAkPuNaReg Clucas wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 2:47 pmBoth Chess24 and chess.com are treating the four pools as four separate events, which makes it a pain to switch between the games. As far as I am concerned, Chessbomb was the best and now it has been dismantled. I probably won't bother to watch at all.Reg Clucas wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 2:47 pmBoth Chess24 and chess.com are treating the four pools as four separate events, which makes it a pain to switch between the games. Yes, I used to prefer Chessbomb to chess24 and others as my ancient laptop didn't grind to a halt when I used Chessbomb.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 3:41 pmAs far as I am concerned, Chessbomb was the best and now it has been dismantled. It was just a very decent interface: uncluttered and with the useful red move marking.

On the subject of the chess itself, draws in Bacrot-Nakamura and Shirov-Harikrishna.
I quite like Wojtaszek's position, for what that's worth.

Yes, agree totally. Am also unlikely to follow the chess games as much now. I can understand the need to get rid of (or better moderate) the commentary sections where some of the lanuguage was unacceptable, but I wonder where those people have gone. If there is a market for this, someone will replicate it/bring it back.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 4:12 pmIt was just a very decent interface: uncluttered and with the useful red move marking.

Maybe, but there's a potential circularity in that argument which we should treat with cautionChristopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 4:51 pmIf there is a market for this, someone will replicate it/bring it back.

I find the Lichess coverage much nicer than Chessbomb. I also like that the engine is off as a default, so you can think about the games before checking with the engine.

There is still https://nxt.chessbomb.com/, as pointed out by Roger de Coverly in another thread.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 3:41 pmAs far as I am concerned, Chessbomb was the best and now it has been dismantled. I probably won't bother to watch at all.

It wasn't particularly easy to use on a phone as you had to scroll diagonally to see the board, moves and engine suggestions.
