"Seriously?"

I think I've seen it before. Whether it's a good idea is another matter.

One of our club members came up with this many years ago, or possibly the related 1. d4 Nf6 2. g4 .

I suspect you have to show that the g pawn can be safely taken to refute it.

If it had been an online game one might suspect a mouse slip.

Possibly of theoretical importance given how easily Black secured the draw.

Giri-Mamedyarov a passably strange draw in which Black seems to have gone wrong in the opening and White seems to have spent lots of time not seeing the right way to take advantage.

EDIT: And Duda, who was never in the slightest trouble, draws with Carlsen.

FURTHER EDIT: Grandelius never at the races against Rapport.

Meanwhile any jury for a Disaster Of The Day award might have to choose between Dubov, passing up a perpetual against Vidit and resigning very shortly afterwards, and Karjakin, forcing a draw against Esipenko with a nice little combination that is actually a forced loss.

Van Foreest beats Praggnanandhaa in a rook ending which he looked capable of throwing away just before the time control, presumably because he wasn't totally confident of calculating the potential pawn endings?

Karjakin admits defeat against Esipenko, he'll be kicking himself. This just leaves Caruana v Shankland where Black has defended all day and looks likely to get his half-point for it. A decent day's play in my view. Vidit leads!

That missed perpetual by Dubov (quite short on time) has a beautiful mate if Vidit tries to avoid it.

First a few checks to show the perpetual and then what is forced should Vidit take the Rook (Dubov played 32.f3 to hold the Rook and Lost)

That link might need a little attention (as does Schedule in the original posting!).

Shankland draws quickly with Rapport, possibly not having shared the engine's opinion that he was much better?

Caruana and Dubov draw without incident.
