First round of England v The Rest of the World and Luke has lost horribly with White in 21 moves but was actually lost on move 14.

London Chess Classic: England vs. Rest of the World 2021 round 01

Members of Esgland teams, Adams, Short, McShane, Howell have reached the above tabiya several times, One might suspect preparation by MVL to find an active approach for Black. The immediate .. cxd4 being a rarity. The idea of .. Bg4 and .. Nc6 looks plausible but fails because White flicks in Qe1 check at a critical moment.

Very similar names but this game was played by Maxime Lagarde not Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (MVL).

A much better second round for England with 2.5/3 all with black!

Black continues to score well, after three rounds there have been four black wins, five draws and no white wins!

I haven't kept up. so we are level with the advantage of three Blacks to come? It's like an international version of Wood Green v White Rose.

England have their first white win courtesy of Gawain.

Three decisive games in the last round, a win for Adams but sadly losses for Gawain & Luke so the final score is 9.5-8.5 to Rest of the World.

Out of curiosity how many of the 10 players in the English Rapidplay are wearing masks?
