Yes there is that also and money made from streaming, which Nakamura has hinted at more than once 'makes good business sense' as he put it. I think it's great to see money in the game but how well distributed it is another matter.

It's certainly not well distributed.
On my travels around various websites, I saw a list of the wealthiest chess players.
Nakamura is number 1 with a net worth of 50 million US Dollars.

Nakamura and the claim of having a net worth of $50 million is here.

Net Worth Planet. I'm on the site called 'Net Worthless Planet.' I'm $50 million in debt.
(I keep putting money on Carlsen's World title opponents.)

I've heard from many within the game that if your rating is around 2650, you don't stand much chance of getting an invite to major events. That's pretty shocking if you ask me because I would have said 2650 is quite an achievement. It seems to me that chess has become rather elitist as there's at least a dozen players over 2700 that I have never seen participate in the tour events yet, Aronian, MVL, So, Grischuk, seem to be there all the time.Simon Rogers wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 9:51 amYou're absolutely right Mark.MJMcCready wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 9:44 amYes there is that also and money made from streaming, which Nakamura has hinted at more than once 'makes good business sense' as he put it. I'm being told that David Norwood is far wealthier.Geoff Chandler wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 10:54 amNakamura and the claim of having a net worth of $50 million is here.

I presume it is just chess related earnings being referenced here.

Another anti-Marshall; doesn't look to me as though White has anything.

On the contrary: Magnus's body language and clock suggest he's not entirely happy.Nick Ivell wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 1:05 pmAnother anti-Marshall; doesn't look to me as though White has anything.

I cannot imagine Magnus being happy with such a sterile position. Can't see him losing it though.

There's probably not a lot in it here, but I think I'd find it easier to find things to do as white than as black here.

Its certainly the sort of position Magnus wouldn't mind having with White.
Computers indeed suggest a small edge for Nepo, though the resulting variations don't seem to amount to much.

I'd say it was completely unreliable. It seems to be cobbled together (something i would do)
but it is perhaps were Simon saw it, or saw a site that that mentioned it.
Like Nepo (move 19.Be3 just been played) have predicted 1-0.
