Kramnik
The level of play before games 7-8 was pretty good. A real World Championship match in all senses. Then one player just stopped playing, basically. He was playing parts of the games well, but then just collapsed.

Magnus played well in the second part of the match, but again, it’s easier to play well when you are comfortable with +1 and there is a good chance that your opponent will collapse. Magnus has delivered more difficult things than this.
Game 7 really was absolutely immense in all respects.

I don't really like Game 7. Seems to me like a feat of stamina more than anything.

Give me Spassky - Fischer 1972, Game 13, any day.

Do you have a favourite Carlsen game, Nick? And is it one of his World Championship games, or does he produce better games in tournaments, maybe?

I wonder what "more difficult things" Kramnik is referring to?

Good question. And no, I can't really think of a favourite.

I follow Magnus with admiration, but no real affection. His games don't float my boat in the same way as the masters of the past.

Probably just a sign of getting old!

I assume Kramnik was referring to the other WC matches where Magnus needed tiebreaks
