I hadn't realised that until earlier today. I don't know what role, if any, Lorin had in actually selecting the women's team beforehand.

Draw at best (though still a likely draw) for the mens' team, one would think. It could have been worse...

You can also see who's there from this photo - https://twitter.com/AgaMilewska123/stat ... 13/photo/1 (although there could be others not in the photo).

The fact that the ratings may not currently reflect relative playing strength after a year and a half of very little over the board chess makes the role of a captain somewhat difficult.
One member of the team shows a most recent rated game in the same rating list Kasparov was last active….

One of the women's team, presumably - there has already been a bit of a discussion about them assuming that is correct.

I think it is a rest day tomorrow, then:
Wales v Scotland
North Macedonia v Ireland
Switzerland v England

England women v Croatia
Any postings on here represent my personal views

Jonathan Rogers - " .... I don't know what role, if any, Lorin had in actually selecting the women's team beforehand."

Let us know please, if you get an answer, who approved women's team selection for ETCC 2021.

The championship is not over yet, but we already achieved one of the ETCC Victories. In ENG team we have a 34 years old women player with initial rating coefficient 40 ( coefficient for the first 30 Fide rated games you played in your life or for players under 18). Her coefficient will not be change no after this Championship, because still are not finalised the first 30 Fide rated games .

Something like this can happen may be in the World Chess Olympiade tournaments , because teams from the developing countries play there ...

A chance this ENG Victory will be surpassed in the whole ETCC history converges to nill.

Respectful of the organisers to recognise Mickey's 50th birthday in that way.

Thank you.

So the next parts of trilogy will be - why J.Rogers is absolutely right "But my point is precisely that there is no real gap between most of the top four and the board five on this occasion " and why Captain of ENG women team is absolutely right in his team selection for the games, although there is no real gap between most of the top four and the board five.

It is fair to say that this is a committee only some of whom are recognised to be blessed with knowledge about English women's chess. It is an unfortunate look, if/when (due to preferred players being absent) they are forced into controversial selections.

Indeed.

Tick tock though; and Luke will be 40 before we know it.
