Players may only agree to a draw after 30 moves have been made by black. Players violating this rule will be forfeited.

Does this overrule the Laws of Chess which permit players to claim draws after a position repeats three times and require an arbiter to award a draw when the position repeats five times? Perhaps "agree" is the key word, excluding where the draw is a claim.

I suspect that your second sentence is correct.

"Agree" is the key word, yes. A stalemate before move 30 might otherwise be problematic.

Games are live now since 2pm GMT (except that there seems a technical problem with board 3 in the last match, Slovenia v Ireland, which I hope will be fixed).

Earlier publicity suggested that David Howell would be on top board. Evidently they've gone for a more usual line up. Ravi presumably needs a win for the GM title, although a draw wouldn't adversely change his rating.

Just to amplify this:

England Open have changed their board order from that previously announced.

Scotland and Wales have changed their team compositions from those previously announced, with the former now fielding young star Freddy Gordon.

England Women and Ireland are unchanged.

winning move 27 Bd3! which would have brought him the GM title yesterday.
He was lucky not to lose after missing that. I guess he will get another chance next time England have White on even boards.

Perhaps, although on past evidence (and barring illness) I'd be surprised if he plays more than a couple more games, if that.

Unfortunate, but that's just the reality of being the reserve player when there is such a rating disparity from the main four boards. And of course the first round result doesn't exactly do anything other than demonstrate that.
