Somebody in the chess24 chat mentioned that he won (with confirmation via a video interview) so assume that's true. I doubt the game ended with Qf1+ anyway (which would imply a black draw offer - unlikely)LawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 6:05 pm
I don't see a way out of the perpetual albeit I haven't checked with an engine.
Fortunately looks like Luke is going to win anyway.

Re: European Team Chess Championship 2021
The technology is error prone, particularly with the older type of DGT boards, but it's still disappointing that it has taken an hour or so to correct the error.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 5:58 pmCould be a mistake, getting the result right still seems to be an unsolved problem when relaying games.
In the days when I used to conduct FIDE Arbiters' Seminars, I used to devote quite a lot of time to;
a) how to minimise such errors;
b) how to check that none had occurred;
c) how to get them corrected swiftly when they did occur.

Draw for Scotland's Board 4 looks right from the end position, and I think is worthy of applause.

I assume Ravi needs a win rather than a draw for the GM title?

Move 27, and he looks like he's going to get that win.

Ravi is currently winning (-6.38). If he converts, will this clinch his GM title?

That aside, if there is anyone you would like to have on your team defending a horrid ending to win the match, it is David Howell. Could be a long one.

Big clash of styles in Jobava v Adams. It's an Italian, 6 e5 line.
Ravi Haria gets a day off after missing the (far from obvious)
winning move 27 Bd3! which would have brought him the GM title yesterday.
He was lucky not to lose after missing that. I guess he will get another chance next time England have White on even boards.
Unfortunate, but that's just the reality of being the reserve player when there is such a rating disparity from the main four boards. And of course the first round result doesn't exactly do anything other than demonstrate that.

England's women get a bye tomorrow.
Why is it that in these events the home federation always seems to field a number of teams which ensures that the total number is odd? I first asked this question at the Yerevan Olympiad in 1996.
