Hear hear! After coming so close against the 2nd seeds yesterday and then beating the 4th seeds today, you've got to say that the team's in with a decent chance of achieving a very impressive result. Good luck Simon!

It is a worry that the Board 1 has chucked away a couple of draws in the last 2 games.
On current form the strongest team may not include him!

I didn't think England came close yesterday - Adams and especially Williams were looking more or less doomed from relatively early in their matches.

Yes, a great win, despite the 'technical assist'. Mickey's position is starting to look very dodgy, though. Topalov keeps playing the moves suggested by my analysis engine (no, don't worry, I'm not starting another conspiracy theory).

I'm aching to know happened in Stuart's game... if it's the 'Kirsan rule', we can probably expect a major whinge from the Bulgarians. This time they may find they have a lot of support.

They got 1.5 points against a team with an average rating well over 2700 with Adams losing. Adams is the only one of the four with a recent record of successes against such strong players, so I'd say it was close in that it would not have been unreasonable to expect Adams to have managed a draw with white against Radjabov.

Hmmm. Seems Delchev was there then. Mobile phone? What other possible explanations are there?

The timing is an unusual coincidence. Maybe something beeped for an hour alarm?

Apparently his phone went off and he tried to deny it, only to have 1 of the arbiters check it to see there was an incoming call at 3pm on the dot!! My ploy worked perfectly!! :D Nice rating points for Stewart there!

So your job as non-playing squad member is to ring all the opposition's mobile phones just as play starts, is it? Not exactly the Corinthian spirit, old man...

The official site http://www.eurons2009.com/eng.htm has a relay of the live games.

France tomorrow for England - will be a tough game but is certainly one in which the guys have a chance, especially if they perform like they (particularly McShane and Gordon) did today.
