Probably I have already said more than I should ...
Why? Surely it is within your remit as QC Chairman to explain the detail of the Title Regulations to people who may not be totally familiar with them.

It is great to see Leonard providing support to Shreyas.

Is Shreyas receiving official support from the ECF in any way?

Perhaps logistical, funding, coaching or some other means?

I will contact his father and ask.

Shreyas looks to be in trouble, so this time it may be moot.

I contacted Jitendra and asked him about the support that the ECF provides to Shreyas whilst he is playing abroad.

Apparently there is no support.

Currently he does not have a sponsor.

I asked if the ECF funds his coaching in any way and the answer was

"Accelerator is supporting two thirds of his coaching i.e maximum to £240. "

I wonder what kind of support he would have received at the same age in the 1970s and 1980s?

Perhaps Leonard could enlighten us?

I'm surprised that neither the Friends of Chess nor the John Robinson Trust nor the British Chess Educational Trust (does this exist anymore?) are offering funds.

BCET: some googling indicates that:

(a) in January 2020 BCET funds were transferred to the Chess Trust, which I infer to be the effective closure of the BCET
(b) its last published figures (2017/18) were £1,100 income and £600 expenditure; I can't see a balance sheet
(c) its governing remit was "the teaching development and supervision of the playing of chess by young chess players in educational establishments"; if it still existed the last three words might limit it.

The Friends of Chess has limited resources. Our target market is young(ish) players over the age of 21 and hence no longer eligible for support from the John Robinson Trust or the Chess Trust.

We have supported the three Title Tournaments in August (ongoing in one case). All of them have provided norm opportunities to such players.

I am very grateful for the support from the Friends of Chess, and hoping for more support for future events such as the Hendon Grandmasters from 25 to 31 October!
