This is a Knockout Tournament, with two game mini-matches.

Play starts at 1300 BST on Tuesday and at 1200 on Wednesday, with tiebreaks if needed at 1800.

Congratulations to Adam Raoof, who is one of the Deputy Chief Arbiters, and to Shohreh Bayat and Alex McFarlane, who are the Local Arbiters at the venue in England.

That leaves me at liberty to wish the England players a successful tournament, which I hereby do.

Five players and two arbiters makes seven. Presumably some route through "rule of six" restrictions has been devised. It could be as simple as two rooms.

As this is a hybrid event though and the five players will presumably be sat well apart from each other would the "rule of six" apply? I have no idea

Don't be embarrassed. You're not supposed to know what the rules are, that's the point.

Tough task for Ravi next, against Inarkiev, who got a bye in the first round

The other English players were knocked out

Some fantastic fighting games! No real issues so far, and I'm impressed at how practical this is as an alternative to traditional OTB events, but there is a lot of work behind the scenes.

Check out Eline Roebers games....

I can't find Eline Roebers in the list of participants. Oh, my mistake, I needed to click "show complete list"... Impressive win from the 14-year-old girl against the GM, though she got knocked out by Salgado in round 2. Chessbase video annotation on the round 1 win here:

I'm not sure how much difference it really made but clearly Eljanov was irritated as I understand it because when he played a move, he was asked to confirm it each time, he had tried to turn the Move Confirmation off through his Profile but it didn't work and then later complained of bugs in the system. Unfortunately he didn't know it was easy to change this in Game Settings although the organisers said they did patiently explain this to everyone. Move Confirmation is designed to deal with mouse slips so its a useful function in that regard but using it means you will spend extra time and if its a reasonably fast time limit this may get to be a problem. I'm sure as Hybrid tournaments develop these things will get ironed out in due course.

Here is the organisers response, you can sense the annoyance from their side:

(Jiřina Prokopová)
"Dear chess friends, I am more than happy to provide the explanation. I have personally showed and stressed how to set Move Confirmation on 3 separate meetings for Captains and Arbiters. And I again explained it to every player, who attended the Practice event before the start, which was highly recommended from our side. I shared this help file with all involved https://tornelo.tawk.help/article/move-confirmation. During the Practice Event I was even troubleshooting with David Navara, explaining this exact procedure again and again. I would be grateful for any feedback from you, how else are we supposed to share the information with you? What else can we do?
You may see in the helpfile, that you can change this settings comfortably from the game, without leaving to your Account settings. Nevertheless, that is also possible. In case of Mr. Eljanov his Browser settings is filling in his passwords automatically, that's why it required confirmation. The platform can't do anything about it."
