David S's above post is apropos of a statement (in the thread he now links to, below) -
"It is quite clear that the Karlsbad [1911] players were far more prone to severe errors than contemporary players."
And I tend to agree with David's explanation, further above, in this thread despite GM Matt Turner remarking -
