4. 3. 2. Tie-break
4. 3. 2. 1. A match of four (4) games is played with a time control of 25 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move, starting from
move 1. There is a drawing of lots to decide which player starts with white.
4. 3. 2. 2. If the score is still level after the match described in Article 4. 3. 2. 1., another match of two (2) games is played with a time
control of 5 minutes + 3 seconds increment per move, starting from move 1. If the score is still level, another 2-game match is played
with the same time control; this procedure may be repeated up to a total of five (5) 2-game matches. There is a drawing of lots to
decide which player starts with white for each of the 2-game matches.
4. 3. 2. 3. If the score is still level after five (5) matches (ten games) described in Article 4. 3. 2. 2., one (1) sudden death game is
played. The player who wins the drawing of lots may choose the colour. The player with the white pieces receives five (5) minutes;
the player with the black pieces receives four (4) minutes whereupon; after the 60th move, both players receive an increment of 2
seconds per move starting from move 61. In case of a draw the player with the black pieces is declared the winner.

How often have world championship title matches gone down to the last game in a series? It does happen a fair amount, but not so much that it wouldn't be possible to list them all. I can recall the Leko-Kramnik match, the last two Carlsen matches (against Karjakin and Caruana), the Anand-Gelfand match, the Anand-Topalov match. And now this one in the women's World Championship. Any others? (Just looked up Kramnik-Topalov, which I forgot had gone to tiebreaks). And of course three of the Kasparov-Karpov matches (1990, 1987, 1985 - I think I am right that the last game in the 1986 match was a dead rubber, only played to decide amounts of prize money? Can anyone confirm that?).

Well, any match that had a First To N Wins condition will have gone to the last game, by definition.
Also, any match that was actually drawn - in addition to the ones you mentioned, there was also Lasker-Schlechter, Botvinnik-Bronstein and the first Botvinnik-Smyslov match.
There were also some others that went to the last game, such as the first Alekhine-Euwe match.

In KvK 1986, yes, Kasparov was 12-11 up and could afford to lose the last, played only for distributing prize fund because champion kept his title at 12-12. Similar but not quite the same in 1990 because Kas had been 12-10 up before he was 12-11 up going into the last game! And I wonder whether Petrosian was 12-11 up in 1966 v Spassky, again with the title already secure as defending champion
Before 1985 though, you did have to go back to the 1950s for real last game shootouts.

Game 13 drawn after 67 moves. Ju was white and in some trouble for most of the game.
