Should we settle on a numbering system here
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

In the final game AG had a swindler's chance if she played 69.Rxe4

Congratulation to Ju. Something of a tragedy for Goryachkina, who on two occasions had one hand on the cup.

Agreed; at least it was decided in the rapids rather than the faster time controlsJustinHorton wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 11:15 amCongratulation to Ju. Something of a tragedy for Goryachkina, who on two occasions had one hand on the cup.
I'm assuming Goryachkina qualifies for the next Candidates, presumably next year; back to the GP series with Lausanne on 1 March next

Is this the first "proper" womens' WC match (ie, not best of 4 at the end of a world cup) to go to tiebreak?
It was good watching, indeed. It also had more Classical decisive games than Anand - Gelfand, Karjakin v Carlsen and Caruana v Carlsen put together! And when the stronger rapid player won at the end, it was more like Anand v Gelfand than either of the Carlsen displays.

Of course not that many could actually have gone to tie-breaks anyway.Jonathan Rogers wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 7:04 pmIs this the first "proper" womens' WC match (ie, not best of 4 at the end of a world cup) to go to tiebreak?
