Sohum Lohia, 15, goes for 3rd and final IM norm

Post by Leonard Barden » Mon Jun 10, 2024 3:37 pm

Sohum Lohia has begun well this afternoon in Helsinki in round 1 of the SkakkiNet International, a 40-player GM open. After 24 moves, he has a +1.3 edge against a 2405-rated Finnish GM.

As Loz Cooper reports in another thread, Sohum scored his second IM norm in Budapest only last week.

Bodhana Sivanandan is also competing in this event, but the Harrow 9-year-old is seeded 38 and not on a live board. Bodhana is Black against a 2333-rated Finnish IM.

And to think that I beat him in his first ever ECF graded game and that overall have an 83% record against him (having never lost). Not quite as good as against Shreyas Royal, against whom I have a 100% record.
But I've never improved and am still a useless Patzer.
