Hi Guys,

Firstly, may I say if you are not interested in The Sniper please move on to a different post.

I would like some feedback on how you have taken to The Sniper.

Most of you are aware that I have written 'The Sniper Book' and there has been some controversy about it on other Forums - mainly unjustified but some valid points.

It has now been out since February and feedback is starting to filter down - mainly Positive but I am also open to intelligent critique.

I am mainly interested in the opinions of those that have studied (not read) the Sniper Book [EverymanChess] then reinforced it with watching the Sniper 2012 DVD's. It is from this starting point that opinions carry more weight - I am happy to answer questions to those that have studied this far but would politely request that no one asks questions that have not seen both - Thank You and I look forward to your comments.

This is a positive post that is looking to evolve the Sniper theory - please no overly critical or negative comments.

I would be grateful if players could post any Chess Sniper Internet Media - Good or Bad! with your comments to create an informed centralised Sniper information bank which English players can have easy access to and use versus other Nationalities.

Tim Harding Sniper Review.

I think I'm correct in thinking this guy created a great chess book that had a character called 'Harry Hacker.'

Could any reader remind me of its title as it was a book that helped enthuse me with chess back in the day and I'd like to recommend it to my juniors.

Better Chess for Average Players?

Thanks Richard,

It has a serious of fictitious characters done in a humorous pastiche.

That title does not fit the 'characters' especially well so I think that may not be the book, however, I would love to be proved wrong.

I think Richard is right. I can't find my copy right now, but I believe Better Chess for Average Players has illustrative games played by fictitious characters, such as Harry Hacker.

Charlie:
Harry Hacker, Mary Mashem. Johnny Brain etc. all feature in "Better Chess For Average Players".

I've spent the past 40 years refusing a1 Rooks with my
KID/Benoni/Grunfeld/Modern/Pirc/Dragon g7 Bishop.
I doubt if I'll start chopping it for a Knight on c3 to look at tripled pawns.

The old dog and new tricks syndrome.
